Open Positions: Doctoral Researcher for the TESDA Project

    19.09.2025

Two open positions in the Research Training Group “The Experience of Stories in the Digital Age (TESDA)” at our Chair

Two positions, one in Project 2.2 (Storytelling Robots for Preschool Children) and one in Project 1.3 (Examining psychological mechanisms underlying misinformation through social media narratives), will be based at our chair.

The positions will begin on April 1, 2026, and end on September 30, 2029. Each position is full-time.
Remuneration will be based on the collective agreement for the public service of the German federal states
(Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder, TV-L).

The research training group “The Experiences of Stories in the Digital Age” (TESDA) will investigate the most pressing questions regarding the experience of stories in the present day in three project areas:

    • Immersive virtual reality
    • New (para-)social encounters
    • Epistemic Challenges

One of the main characteristics of the RTG TESDA is its connection between scholarship on narrative processing and scholarship on human interactions with digital media. Together with other junior and senior scholars, the 11 doctoral researchers who constitute the first TESDA cohort will examine how digital environments affect the way stories are encountered and processed, and how stories unfold their psychological impact in the digital world.
