Prof.in Carolin Wienrich Named One of Germany’s Most Influential Women in AI
01.07.2025The Manager Magazin has named 23 women who are shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence in Germany — among them is Professor Carolin Wienrich from the University of Würzburg.
Wienrich heads the Group of Psychology of Intelligent Interactive Systems at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU), is a Principal Investigator at the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDAS), and directs the university’s Human-AI Research Center.
Her work centers not on the technology itself, but on the human users — and the cognitive and practical skills they need to interact effectively with AI systems. As Manager Magazin notes, her inclusion on the prestigious list is based on many years of research into human-AI interaction and cooperation.
“Only together with humans can AI unfold its full potential,” says Wienrich. “Through AI, we are learning more about humans than we have in a long time.”
Her research includes both objective and subjective assessments of human AI capabilities and investigates how these can be supported and improved. Application areas span from games and workplace technologies to therapy, interventions, and prevention — always with an eye on the ethical, legal, social, and psychological implications of AI.
