Impressions: Judith Gerlach visited the XR Hub Würzburg
04.08.2020Judith Gerlach, the Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs, visited the XR-Hub Würzburg, respectively the chair HCI and the working group MTS. The visit began with a review of current research and initiatives, followed by a presentation of selected demonstrations.
On Tuesday, 4 August 2020, Minister of State Judith Gerlach (MdL) visited the University of Würzburg. She was received by Prof. Dr. Marc Erich Latoschik and Prof.in Dr. Carolin Wienrich.
Mrs. Gerlach got an overview of the current research at the chairs for Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Technology-Systems in the field of "Extended Reality".
The presentation took place in a virtual environment, which was developed within the ViLeArn project by Florian Kern (M.Sc.) and Peter Kuhlmann (M.Sc.) in cooperation with Prof.in Dr. Silke Grafe.
With the help of virtual reality glasses she could enter a virtual world where she was embodied by an avatar.
Prof. Latoschik and Prof.in Wienrich were embodied by photorealistic avatars, which were developed in the Embodiment Labs under the supervision of Andrea Bartl (M.Sc.).
