AI in art? Tanja Messingschlager successfully defends her dissertation at the University of Würzburg
08.05.2025We congratulate Dr. Tanja Messingschlager from the Chair of Communication Psychology and New Media on her successfully defended dissertation on "Generated by Creative AI: Exploring Human Responses to Information about AI as the Source of Creative Content"!
In three studies published in the journals New Media & Society and Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, among others, she investigated how people react to creative artificial intelligences: For example, it was found that people felt less transported into a story if they believed the story was written by an AI — but only for contemporary fiction, not science fiction. We are also delighted that Tanja Messingschlager will remain with the department as a member of staff after her successful dissertation: In the research project "Algorithmic display biases from a user perspective: assessment, effects, interventions (ADUBAI)", she will be investigating the human reaction to the algorithmic bias of AIs [Mehr Infos zu dem Projekt gibt es hier] .
